BMW has just announced that their X3 EV is going to be called iX3. I've heard rumors about it a while ago. Because of their current EV vehicles (i3 and i8), some people expected to see "i" in the name of the fully electric version of BMW X3 too.

Auto Express reports BMW “has trademarked every badge from iX1 to iX9, indicating that a raft of new electric SUVs could be on the horizon."

Well BMW does have a naming precedence when it comes to full electrics so they may as well stick with it to avoid confusion, but Mini does not have such a naming scheme so we'll probably still get the Mini EV.

As for me, if you want to have an "i" letter in your new EV model, you should follow the same product line language, which I really don't want to see in the new BMW X3 EV. I'd love to see more classic and not futuristic electric vehicles, basically the same X3, but with the battery under the hood.
