More special editions to debut at LA Autoshow

As Mini attempts to get themselves out of their current sales slump, it looks like the company will be doubling down on special edition models. Four new variants will be showcased later this weekend, with the JCW Knights Edition as the headliner. It gets unique piano black trimming, a JCW exhaust system, and silver accenting on the roof, hood and mirror caps. We will also get a first look at the Ying Yang Edition, Clubman Starlight and JCW International Orange.

I don't know if high priced variants is the solution here, but I will admit that this version is nice looking. If none of them are coming with any updates to the powertrain, it may actually be cheaper just do so some aftermarket mods yourself on a base model.

Yeah high end variants like this aren't going to attract any newcomers to the brand. What they need is more affordable entry level models that have better standard equipment.

IMO, Mini needs to revamp the entire brand. Doing more of the same when the car industry is shifting so much isn't a good idea.
My biggest fear is Mini will fade away similar to Pontiac and the new EV powertrains might not do much for saving them.

What used to differentiate Mini products was the fact that they didn't conform to what was being done elsewhere in the industry. Now that they've turned the Cooper into a 5 door hatchback and are releasing these 'performance' oriented models, they've lost touch with what they used to be.

IMO, if it wasn't for that, Mini wouldn't be around and to be honest they don't have much of a fighting chance sticking to classic Mini ways. Biggest challenge they'll face is if/when restructuring the entire brand finally comes up.
